Climate Interactive puts its [En-ROADS](/engines/en-roads/) climate simulator in front of groups: the person at the controls moves sliders for things like energy sources, carbon pricing and economic growth, and the graphs of emissions, temperature and other results change at once.[^2] This entry is about those sessions; the model has its own entry.

Climate Interactive runs, and trains others to run, facilitated sessions built on it.[^1,5] In the Climate Solutions Workshop, participants propose climate strategies to test in the simulator and a trained facilitator leads the discussion of what each one does, aiming for a scenario that keeps warming well below 2°C. The page suggests an hour and groups of 10 to 50.[^3] The Climate Action Simulation is a role-playing game of 2 to 3 hours for groups of about 12 to 50, set at an emergency climate summit called by the United Nations.[^4] Participants split into six or eight stakeholder groups from government, business and civil society. The facilitator plays the UN Secretary-General and tests their proposals in En-ROADS as they are made.[^4]

Facilitators come through a free online course, Mastering En-ROADS, followed by attending at least two events and running at least two of their own before applying to become an En-ROADS Climate Ambassador.[^5] In October 2026 the site counted more than 970 ambassadors and more than 1.6 million users of the simulator, which it offers in 24 languages.[^1] The app page checks the device before loading and turns away phones and any screen 480 pixels or smaller, though it allows iPads and Android tablets running Chrome.[^6]

Underneath is a system dynamics model of the economy, energy and the climate from 1990 to 2100, developed with the MIT Sloan School of Management and Ventana Systems; Climate Interactive says the model files are proprietary but can be licensed.[^2]

En-ROADS shows a model doing most of its work with a facilitator beside it: the simulator answers in seconds, and the session is built around the group's argument about which levers to pull.
