ArcGIS is Esri's geographic information system: software for creating, managing, analysing, mapping and sharing spatial data, sold to businesses and governments. Esri presents it as the base of what it calls a geospatial digital twin, where GIS layers, 3D models, building information models and sensor feeds are joined in one view that also shows past and future states, from a single facility up to a region.
Esri's digital-twin page names projects: Cross River Rail in Brisbane used a twin of infrastructure above and below ground to build the city's first underground railway; Vodafone built a 3D twin of its British network covering 245,000 square kilometres, and plans to roll the approach out across twelve European markets; the Prague Institute of Planning and Development uses one to weigh development against climate and heritage; The Nature Conservancy modelled the archaeology, wildlife and vegetation of Point Conception; Cisco runs a supply-chain twin; and a twin of Boston joins zoning, transport and public-safety data for city decision-makers. Esri is a member of the Digital Twin Consortium.
