Neara
Neara's commercial 3D model of an electricity network, built from a utility's LiDAR, imagery and GIS records; simulates loads, clearances, weather and failure risk on every pole and line.
What is reusable: closed sourceunknown dataAPI unknownunknown participation
Neara makes a 3D model of an electricity network for the utility that runs it: every pole, line and structure placed in real terrain with its loads, clearances, weather exposure and likelihood of failure. The model is built from data the utility already holds, such as LiDAR, aerial imagery, GIS records, engineering specifications and inspection data, which the platform normalises and stitches together.
A utility uses it to run many scenarios on its real network geometry (wind, ice, heat, flood, vegetation, re-conductoring, new builds), to see how one failure spreads to other assets and which customers would lose supply, and to rank feeders for hardening. Outputs include hardening plans, reports for regulators, condition-based inspection programmes and work orders. Neara groups the work under reliability, wildfire mitigation, asset management, risk and value optimisation, and design and construction. Case studies exist on the site; none is named on the page read.
Commercial and hosted (the application runs at app.neara.com), sold by demonstration, with regional sites for Europe, the USA and Australia/New Zealand. Prices are not stated.

As heating, driving and industry move to electricity, where will the network run short, and what mix of wires, storage and generation fixes it?
