Bioregioning Earth, also called the Bioregional Knowledge Commons, is a public knowledge base of organizations, practices and ideas in bioregional work: efforts to organise communities, economies and governance around watersheds, landscapes and ecosystems rather than administrative borders. Andrea Farias, an autonomous researcher and member of the worker cooperative Motiu, started and built it. It grew out of her report "Bioregional Knowledge Commons - A Meta Perspective", which later led to a Bioregional Knowledge Commons working group in partnership with r3.0.
The site has three parts. Organizations is a world map with a pin for each organization, and a card gallery that can be searched by name and filtered by category (bioregional organizer, funder, learning network, support provider), by tag and by whether a full case study exists; each pin or card opens the organization's own page. Ontology is the shared vocabulary: broad themes such as governance, finance and land stewardship, and under each theme the narrower tags, plus the activities, organizations and sources that belong to it. Sources is the bibliography of reports, essays and talks the entries draw on. Examples on the map include Tarun Bharat Sangh in Rajasthan, Salmon Nation in British Columbia, Regenerate Cascadia and Regen Sydney.
The entries are researched from material that is already public: what organizations publish about themselves, reports, case studies and interviews. The site is free to browse with no login. It does not state a reuse licence or offer a download. The maintainers describe it as a living project that will never be complete, with entries added, filled out and corrected as they go, and they ask anyone who wants to contribute, suggest content or edit their own organization's entry to write to them.
In this wiki's stack it sits with the data: a directory of who is working on a given watershed or region, useful before building a model of one.

The idea that a bioregion should be organised around the relationships that sustain life in a place, such as a shared water system, rather than around a boundary drawn on a map; argued by Indy Johar and related to the rights-of-nature movement for rivers.
